Placenta previa is a pregnancy condition in which the placenta lies low in the uterus and partially or completely covers the opening of the cervix. It can cause bleeding during pregnancy and may affect the mode of delivery. 🤰 What are the symptoms? * Sudden, painless, bright-red vaginal bleeding, usually in the second half of pregnancy. * Sometimes, there may be no symptoms, and the condition is detected during an ultrasound scan. 🩺 How is it diagnosed? Ultrasound helps determine the position of the placenta. A low-lying placenta detected during the mid-pregnancy scan may move away from the cervix as the uterus grows. A follow-up scan is important to reassess its position. 💗 Can you have a normal delivery? Yes, in some cases. If the placenta moves away from the cervix, vaginal delivery may be possible.
